Rural areas have lower crime rates than towns and cities. Not just because there are less people, but overcrowding brings out different behaviour in people.
Botley and Hedge End already have growing concerns about crime in public places.
This development is also planned to be "at least 40% social housing". That means at least 2,400 homes in the this category. Bear in mind that the whole of Botley is currently just 2,000 homes.
Where the people would come from in those numbers we can only speculate at this stage. Certainly not existing residents.
This massive influx of social housing will overwhelm and destroy the Botley, Durley and Curdridge villages that we know today. And possibly even the Hedge End we know today too.
