Botley Bypass – Consultation

REMINDER –  The Hampshire County Council consultation on the proposed Botley by-pass closes tomorrow 15th September, but there is still time to submit your opinions online, if you have not already done so.  It is vital for as many residents as possible to respond, before the plans are finalised and gain planning permission.

The by-pass does not, in fact, by-pass Botley but is a relief road for the High Street and central Botley.  It will have considerable and varying effects on other parts of the parish and surrounding areas and will partially divide Boorley Green from the rest of the village.  Everyone in Botley will be affected in one way or another.

Also, since the by-pass exhibition in Botley, plans have been put forward to site a new secondary school, housing, employment and a local centre on land north of Woodhouse Lane as well as 375 houses on the Uplands Farm land, east of Winchester Street. (Exhibitions are being held locally on the 22nd/23rd of this month.)  This is likely to have considerable effects on the density and flow of traffic along the by-pass and all roads feeding into it.

This link will take you to a disclaimer page on Hantsweb.  Click ACCEPT at the bottom which will then lead to the By-pass planning site where you can find all related documents and a facility to send your opinions by  e-mail.  (Unusually there isn’t an online form to be filled in.)
